In an extraordinary display of endurance, determination and mountain craft, Trish Patterson has completed the first-ever winter Fastest Known Time (FKT) of the Dragon’s Back route.
Starting Friday, 12th December at 06:00, Trish began her solo winter attempt, navigating the 236-mile (380 km) course unsupported on the hills, carrying her own equipment and self-navigating without on-route pacing or muling. She finished at 17:12 on Tuesday, 16th December, crossing the line in 107 hours, 12 minutes, a total duration of 4 days, 11 hours and 12 minutes.
This sets a new benchmark for what is possible in winter conditions on the Dragon’s Back route. This achievement follows the style of Bridget Glaister’s iconic accomplishment last year, when she became the second person to complete a Dragon’s Back FKT, also opting to go solo on the hill with road support only.
Trish’s run was marked by relentless wintry weather, including heavy rain, prolonged periods under Yellow and Amber weather warnings, and gale-force winds across the mountain sections.
Congratulations to Trish Patterson on this historic winter solo FKT — a true testament to strength, resilience, and the spirit of the mountains. More to follow in due course!
