Accommodation

All accommodation provided for participants will be in huge eight-person tents, each with spacious sleeping compartments (shared quadrants) and a large, central communal area (see graphic below).

Can I choose my tent mates?

We will be in touch in June to invite participants to choose their tent mates. You will have the option to choose a male, female or mixed tent.

When is accommodation provided?

Tented accommodation is provided from day one (i.e. upon arrival at the first overnight camp in Nant Gwynant) through to day five.

Please note that participants are responsible for sourcing their own accommodation in Conwy before the day one start and in Cardiff at the finish.

Important

Participants will need to provide their own sleeping bag and mat and these items are included on the mandatory camp clothing & equipment list. We would recommend bringing a small pillow too (if it fits in the overnight dry bag)!

Exactly what to expect from our eight-person tents

What can I expect from the overnight camps?

The overnight camps create a special atmosphere where you will receive support and encouragement from the event team, and enjoy the company of your fellow participants in the communal marquee. Switch off, relax and enjoy the view!

The overnight camp locations will be very basic (think a farmer's field in a rural location) and portable toilets are provided. Basic dishwashing facilities are provided, but please do not expect showers. Some overnight camps allow for participants to make use of the nearest river for washing in, which at least is refreshing!

The camaraderie of participants in camp creates a home from home which has encouraged so many ordinary people to achieve something extraordinary

What should I expect in adverse weather?

As with all camping experiences, if the weather is fine (fingers crossed!) it will be very enjoyable. However, if the event receives consecutive days of heavy rain (unlikely but not impossible!) everything is likely to become damp, especially considering that all the tents are taken down and moved each day. An extra set of waterproofs for in camp may be a good idea if the forecast is looking poor.

Can friends or family visit me in camp?

Please note that the overnight camps are not accessible to members of the public or family and friends of the participants.
