2021 race sells out within 24 hours!

On Tuesday September 1st 2020, entries for the sixth edition of the Dragon’s Back Race®, to take place in September 2021, opened and sold out on the same day.

It was clear that demand was high for entries into the world’s toughest mountain race following on from the recent exciting announcements about the addition of a sixth day and a grand finish inside the walls of Cardiff castle, in the capital of Wales.

These developments only add to the original concept of this iconic, ultra running event by taking participants on a complete journey down the spectacular, mountainous spine of Wales. From Conwy castle in the north to Cardiff castle in the south, participants will spend 6 days clocking up 380km and 17,400m of ascent, over wild, trackless and remote mountainous terrain.

Organisers are thrilled to see 35 nationalities represented on the entry list, along with a wealth of experience from varied backgrounds. There are some familiar faces, those who can’t resist returning to the race for more Welsh adventures, as well as plenty of new participants who will be taking on this epic challenge for the first time in 2021.

These ‘Dragons in Training’ now have one year to prepare before arriving in Conwy to begin their quest to slay the Dragon on Monday September 6th, 2021.

Shane Ohly, Dragon’s Back Race® Race Director, comments: “We wish everyone all the best for their training, and we look forward to following their progress over the coming months”.

Those who missed out on an entry are encouraged to add themselves to the first-come, first-served waiting list.
