Day 4 - Route information & map

Planner’s Optimum Route: 66km with 2,453m of ascent

Eisteddfa Gurig Farm > Ford > Esgair Wen > Cefn Bach > Esgair Penygarreg Summit > Elan Village > Gorllwyn Summit > Drygarn Fawr Summit > Gellifechan Campsite

Day four is the longest of the week and offers a quintessential mid Wales mountain experience. The route starts off with some lovely and quick forest tracks before depositing the competitors at the northern edge of the Elan Valley watershed. Anyone who has ventured off the established paths in the Elan Valley will have experienced the (in)famous tussock grasses that proliferate in the area. Making progress, whether running or walking, is strength sapping and demoralising. However, the competitors will have to keep their eyes open for quad bike tracks and unmarked footpaths that make the going much easier.

Please note that the overnight campsite at Gellifechan is on private property and no public access is allowed.
