Day 3 - Route information & map

Planner’s Optimum Route: 64km with 3,772m of ascent

Vanner Farm Campsite > Gau Graig > Cadair Idris > Craig-y-llyn > Road / Track Junction > Tarrenhendre > Summit > Machynlleth > Bryn Coch Bach > Bwlch y Grossen > Pumlumon Fawr > Eisteddfa Gurig Farm

It is not obvious from the map but the first half of day three is predominantly ridge running including the unexpectedly good section around Tarrenhendre. South of Gau Graig (the first checkpoint of the day) there is a new pipeline being laid and multiple access points to the Cadair Idris ridge may be blocked. The access situation changes daily so we will have to check the day before and advise the competitors accordingly. After Machynlleth the route picks up Glyndwr’s Way and fast progress south is made until suddenly popping out, into the remote upland hills of mid Wales. These lead to Plynlimon and the overnight campsite.

Please note that the overnight campsite at Eisteddfa Gurig Farm is on private property and no public access is allowed.
