What to expect when 2025 entries open early

Should I be worried about the event selling out?

If you are keen to enter, then we recommend taking advantage of your early entry access!

As you have registered interest for the 2025 event, you will be able to enter from Monday 26th August. This means you can get your entry in before entries go on general sale on 13th September.

With entries for 2024 having sold out, we expect demand to be high – signing up early is your only way to guarantee your spot on the start line in 2025!

Why should I enter early?

Enter by the end of Friday 13th September and pay a lower deposit of £99 – saving you £100!

If you enter at the earliest possible date this is a price freeze on 2024 – giving you an excellent price.

Where and when do I go to enter?

On Monday 26th August at 12 noon, you will receive an email inviting you to take up your exclusive early entry into the 2025 event. This link will take you to SiEntries, where you will be able to enter for the 2025 event.

Please don’t panic if you don’t receive this straight away – you will receive it by the end of the day, which will still give you plenty of time to sign up.

If you haven’t received your exclusive invitation by the end of the day on Monday, please get in touch.

Can I enter someone else under my SiEntries account?

Sorry, this isn’t possible for this event due to the complexities with instalment payments. One SiEntries account can only add an entry for one person into the Dragon’s Back Race®, so please ensure your friend/wife/husband/partner has another account setup in case you were hoping to enter more than one person.

Do I need an SiEntries account?

Yes! And best to ensure that you:

Do I have to rush through my entry as quickly as possible?

No! Please take your time to complete your entry as accurately as possible and browse the optional extras. Once you have begun the entry process then your position is ‘frozen’ in the virtual queue for one hour, so as long as you have paid within that hour, you really don’t need to worry about anyone ‘queue jumping’!

We expect it to take only 5-10 minutes for you to complete an entry.

How do we take entries?

We take entries via SiEntries. The link on the email will take you to the right place. If you don’t have an account with SiEntries, then set one up ahead of entries opening.

If you already have an account, then please check all your details are up to date, especially your email (we will use the email address regularly to send you important updates about your entry.)

What is the entry fee?

The entry fee varies depending when you enter – enter early for the best price.

‘2024 edition’ race maps

2025 participants will be invited to purchase a 2024 event map for delivery once the 2024 event has come to an end.

What specific information will I need to hand?

Be prepared that, apart from the obvious name, date of birth, nationality fields on the entry form, we will also be asking you to:

  • provide some relevant previous experience. You can also share your intention to enter either the Hatchling or the full Dragon’s Back Race route (you don’t have to stick this if you change your mind!)

  • provide a kind of ‘profile bio’:

What do I do if I have a deferred entry from 2024?

We will be in touch with everyone who has a deferred entry to invite them to take up their reserved spot for the 2025 event.

If I miss out, will there be a waiting list?

We do not currently plan to operate a waiting list for the 2025 event.

What happens if I’m unable to attend due to an unforeseen circumstance?

Whilst our standard terms and conditions of entry are generous in offering participants some options (transfer or defer) if they have to withdraw, these are somewhat limited (e.g. they are only possible up to a certain date before the event takes place, and the non-refundable deposit of is not deferrable or transferable by us).

This event offers the option to purchase XCover, so you may be able to get a refund if unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances.

Alternatively, it is your responsibility to obtain appropriate insurance to cover your participation in the event (and any loss, or injury which may occur as a result of such participation).

Once signed up what should I do?
